Scar Subcision
What is it?
Scarring commonly occurs as a result of previous episodes of bad acne breakouts which resulted in areas of collagen loss and skin destruction, giving rise to the appearance of depressed surface texture and skin contour.

Scar subcision is a technique which involves inserting a special needle beneath the skin into the dermal layer to cut and detach existing fibrous bands that have tethered the surface of the skin down to the deeper layers, thereby removing any unwanted pull and tension of the skin. This technique allows the scarred area to level up with the rest of the skin’s surface and eventually heal for a smoother complexion.
It is often used as an adjunctive procedure on top of the gold standard Smartxide Fractional CO2 Laser resurfacing for scars in order to achieve much better overall results.
What type of scars are suitable?
- Rolling Scars
- Box car scars
- Tethered, puckered scars
