What is it?

Fillers are commonly used to fill and volumize areas of volume loss and deficiency that are often encountered with ageing, to achieve a more youthful appearance and balanced facial contour. When skilfully placed along bony vectors, it also provides lifting effect to improve deep sagging skin folds and reduce heaviness of the face.

It can also be used on those looking to augment or enhance facial features such as nose, lips or chin for a more defined projection and attractive facial proportion.

For men, fillers can also enhance masculinization of features such as sculpting a more chiselled jawline or a stronger chin.

What do we use?

We use only hyaluronic acid fillers as this provides the easy option of dissolving the fillers away should there be any unintended or undesirable outcomes. Being biocompatible resorbable hyaluronic acid gels, they are also proven to be safe to be used for its purposes.

How long will the effect last?

Depending on the area treated and the product type, fillers generally last for around 1 to 1.5 years. 

What is the treatment interval?

Depending on your needs, we recommend repeating filler treatments on a 1-1.5 yearly basis. 

For areas that involve a lot of movements such as lips and undereye, fillers longevity may be shorter at around 6-9 months. Reinjection is necessary to maintain optimal results. 

How soon will I see the effect?

The results are visible immediately after the procedure. This may be accompanied by mild swelling so do allow 1-2 weeks for swelling to completely subside in order to accurately determine the final outcome. 

What to expect during treatment?

We will apply a layer numbing cream 20 minutes before the procedure to ensure comfort throughout the procedure. The procedure itself takes about 30 minutes or more. The technique usually involves some gentle tugging underneath the skin as the filler is placed. Overall, the procedure is very tolerable with minimal discomfort.

Few needle marks may be visible at the end of treatment. 

Is there any downtime?

Yes, occasionally there may be mild swelling and bruising over the treatment sites. You can reduce the swelling with ice pack compresses at home. If bruising happens, they often last for about 3-5 days on average. You can easily conceal the bruising spots with concealer makeup the next day. 

How can I minimize the risk of bleeding or bruising?

Avoid consuming vitamin E supplement, omega-3 fish oil, NSAIDs painkillers or blood thinning medications for 3 days before the procedure, unless medically indicated by your doctor*. 

*Please discuss with the doctor before you decide to stop regular medications on your own as they may be important for the underlying medical condition.

Are the results permanent?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are being broken down naturally by our body over time and the effect of each treatment usually lasts for 1-1.5 years; and 6-9 months for dynamic movement areas such as undereye and lips. Reinjection is necessary to maintain optimal results. 

What is the post-treatment care?

• Continue skincare as per usual routine
• Avoid vigorous massage of treatment areas
• Avoid vigorous exercise (running, swimming, heavy weights training) for at least 2 to 3 days
• Avoid taking alcohol on the day of treatment
• Apply cold packs to areas of bruising or swelling, if any
• Apply makeup only on the next day
