Pigmentation & Melasma
Skin pigmentation is a very common problem in Singapore that affects many people. This is due to constant UV exposure in the form of sunlight, infrared and blue light. It is a result of chronic build-up of melanin in the different layers of the skin, giving rise to a spectrum of pigment variations as seen on the surface of the skin.
These pigments commonly occur as freckles, sunspots, age spots and melasma. Of note, melasma is a stubborn condition that is easily triggered by light and hormones, thus making it notoriously difficult to treat.
